There’s good news for Haworth fans who have long clamored for the company to offer its beautifully designed furniture and lighting fixtures at the retail level. Haworth, the world-renowned designer of furniture, interior architecture and technology solutions for commercial spaces, has launched the Haworth Store, an online retail destination and one-stop.
The introduction of the retail store is exciting, as until now, its offerings were sold exclusively through a global network of 600 dealers in 126 countries. The Holland, Mi.-based company has a client base that includes Google and the National Basketball League while its furniture has been featured on the sets of such television shows as The Good Wife and Grey’s Anatomy.
The new website, store.haworth.com, showcases a wide variety of luxurious furniture and other accessories including sofas, accent tables, stools, settees, lounge chairs, book cases, credenzas, desk and dining chairs and LED lamps.
Much of the furniture can just as easily be used in a living, dining or television room as in an office environment. Tables, such as the “Reside Straight Leg” functions as a dining table as well as a spacious desk. It comes in a variety of wood finishes, including beechwood, ebony, cherry and walnut ranges in price from $699 to $789 depending on the size. Tables with a laminate surface cost $579 to $669, depending on the size selected.
Sofas are equally stunning and come in a variety of fabrics and colors. The “m_sit Sofa”, for example, is offered in wool in a variety of colors ranging from gray flannel, charcoal flannel, and walnut to geranium and buckskin for $3,599 while the leather option is available in white, chocolate, ink, cream and saddle for $8,199.
The website serves as a comprehensive resource and design guide all in one place. “With the online store, Haworth brings decades of expertise in design, craftsmanship and ergonomics to the home,” says Kurt VanderSchuur, corporate brand director for Haworth.
In conjunction with the site, Haworth also launched an augmented reality application for the iPad that allows customers to successfully reimagine space and visualize products in any environment, all in real-time. Called “Visualize My Space” the application can be downloaded for free at the Apple App Store. It uses a live camera view, which provides a clear outlook of how a piece of furniture might ‘fit’ into a space.
“Our augmented reality is a groundbreaking tool that allows customers to visualize furniture in their home,” says Tom DeBoer, alternative markets manager at Haworth. “After researching available technology across multiple design disciplines, we partnered with the technology firm Springthrough to create the augmented reality app, which is exclusive to the Haworth Store.”
Haworth’s store also offers a ‘Help Me Choose’ section, which functions as an advisory arm – helping users select and pre-plan. The Haworth store will ship to the 50 United States. Fabric swatches are also available upon request.
