According to the New York Post’s Saturday report, 27-year-old Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes is planning to tie the knot with his long-term boyfriend and gay-rights advocate, Sean Eldridge. While Hughes has been termed as “the kid who made Obama president” for organizing his social networking site, My. BarackObama. com, during the momentous 2008 campaign; Eldridge is the political director for Freedom to Marry. Hughes, who was Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s roommate at Harvard, is now an Entrepreneur in Residence at the Cambridge, Mass.-based venture capital firm General Catalyst Partners.
Both Hughes and Eldridge had announced their engagement last week at a reception in favor of Freedom to Marry inside their Soho loft. The guests at the event included Christine Quinn, Cory Booker, state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner.
Noting that the two had been together for five years, Eldridge announced to the guests: “This is very timely for Chris and I to have you here tonight to celebrate marriage and work on marriage. We got engaged two weeks ago, so there is a real sense of urgency.”
The pair is still to announce a wedding date; and Eldridge said they would probably try to wait till gay marriage is made legal in New York.
