Company Autoban recently completed an elegant lounge for the Ataturk Airport International Departures in Istanbul. With a design theme based on arcades and featuring comfortable seating units, a piano and plenty of interesting decorating elements, this place greets its 2000 daily visitors in style.
According to the architects, “the main structure, established by making use of the traditional architectural arcade system, consists of a combination of global forms. These plain spheres create interior combinations by dividing the place into sections, allowing transitions between them“. The lounge has a total surface of 300 square meters and accommodates a restaurant, a tea garden, a library, resting areas plus a movie theater. The tall curved ceilings enhance the feeling of space. Due to the continuous flow of the project, visitors can move from one functional area to the other, have tea and serve a meal, while checking out the timetable of the planes, visible from any part of the lounge. The design of this Turkish lounge is highly original, inviting and cheerful, making it easy for time to fly by.
