Continuing your education can be an exciting endeavor, particularly if you can study something which brings you great joy — such as, say, the art of distilling whiskey. The Irish Whiskey Academy in County Cork offers just such an educational experience.
The Academy, which opened in February of 2013, is an institute of distillers Pernod Ricard. Here you can sign up for a handful of different courses which focus on the history and production of Irish whiskey. Most courses include a lunch at Malthouse Restaurant, as well as guided tasting sessions.
The most intensive and detailed course is the ‘Enthusiast Academy’ a two-day program that shows attendees how to craft whiskey “from grain to glass.” Topics include brewing and fermentation, pot distillation, maturation, blending, and bottling. Not only is the course an informative experience, but it is also a luxurious getaway with 5 star hotel accommodations included in the €1,199.00 package (approximately $1,321 USD).
Interested individuals can check out the Irish Whiskey Academy website for more information.
