Foodies who love to go on a gastronomical roller coaster ride have a reason to rejoice. The ‘Disneyland of food’ is scheduled to come up in Italy. Eataly, the high-end Italian food market/mall chain, has joined hands with the municipality of Bologna to develop a theme park which will be dedicated to food and everything under the sun related to it.
Italian cuisine is known to be one of the most popular in the world, with strong global influences. Dominated with cheese and wine, even a lay man can associate with commonly favored pasta and risotto preparations. Luring all those who relate to the world of food, the Italian food themed wonderland will serve as a one stop location with food labs, grocery stores and restaurants.
Scheduled to open in November 2015, it is also designed to house a large aquarium. Spreading over 80,000-square-meter (almost 20-acre) the Fico Eataly World is estimated to cost about €40 million ($54.9 million) and draw about 10 million visitors annually to “play with this magical thing, Italian food.”
