Redefining the boundaries between interior and exterior, the highly contemporary YAK10 residence in Bangkok, Thailand, is home to a small family. Spreading over 500 square meters with an additional 560 square meter garden, the stylish residence posed a challenge for Bangkok-based studio Ayutt and Associates Design – the clients wanted a modern dream home that would allow them to enjoy a large garden in spite of the small square footage.
The architects came up with a design solution that displays an L-shaped floor plan with almost half of the house cantilevered over the green areas, extending the garden to the maximum. Shaded areas meet naturally lit interiors in a beautiful design solution, proving that creativity and needs can meet halfway. With the private bathrooms, service areas, storage and staircases acting as heat buffer zones, the social spaces were left enjoying the proximity of the outdoors. A swimming pool parallel with the building keeps a cool atmosphere, while the cleverly placed windows provide natural ventilation, making the client’s wishes come true.
