For those who enjoy spending time in a minimalist house that focuses on quality of the materials, inviting surrounding views inside and constructing a comfortable, almost ethereal atmosphere, the Widlund House will seem like a dream. Rising two stories in the air in Sandvick on Öland island, Sweden, the fascinating white concrete home acts like a “funnel of light, space and sea views”, as described by its creator – Stockholm-based design studio Claesson Koivisto Run.
Displaying a design slightly pinched in the middle to allow different roof angles to form, the luxurious residence is split in two: the backside part shelters the two-story bedroom collection, while the front side was imagined for a carefree social life boasting a double-height ceiling. In order to achieve “the ultimate precision in manufacturing tolerance and color/finish”, the house was made out of poured concrete, capturing natural light and allowing it to elegantly glow, while the grey sealant between the concrete elements accentuate its beautiful shape.
