A dream home is customized according to the owner’s way of life, as well as the surroundings it occupies. This is also true for the W House residential project, which was molded after the inhabitant’s character in terms of space and form. IDIN Architects created a home that would encompass the owner’s passions for traveling and kayaking. Based on a photo of a sailboat on the river, the architects designed the home with the social areas supporting the private ones the same way a river supports the boat.
Oriented in a North-South direction, the house located in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, captures views to the west while wind gently ventilates the interiors. The cantilevered floor was inspired by the challenging kayak sport, while the top level acts as a roof deck used for relaxing and entertaining. Large windows are equipped with wooden shutters that keep away unnecessary heat as well as indiscreet eyes.
