With a futuristic name like “R1T Apartment”, this stunning collection of spaces lures us into a lifestyle where curvilinear elements abound and transparency invites urban views inside. Imagined as a platform for life above the city of Tel Aviv, the spacious apartment facing the city’s south-west side welcomes daylight with views of the undulating Jaffa port coastline seen in the distance.
Spaces infused with light display a modern elegance within an L-shaped floor plan imagined by Partizki and Liani Architects. Reflected in the glossy ceiling, the city doubles the perception on the view and exposes an interesting visual effect. The architects describe how the concept marries the panoramas: “There are three routes traced on the inner perimeter of the “L” shaped volume: first is an entrance route that is internally duplicated by a second parallel passage covered with wood, leading to the night area, terminating and replicating itself along with the sea through the presence of a mirror / glass wall. A third route, hidden and shorter, leads from the kitchen and dining area to the dark service zone shifting towards obscurity.”
At night, the show is complete, mirroring myriad city lights in the “plan for the sky” imagined for this exuberant residence. The bathroom is especially spectacular, allowing the city to become part of an evening bathing routine as an unforgettable background.
This is where I would see myself spending my youth.
“The night area transfers the projective references of the reflective ceiling but this time in a vertical way, along with partitions of mirror and transparent glass that allow a glimpse to the rough wall of stone of the bathroom. The nocturnal passage, the urban sky filled with artificial lights, stars, and paths form on the reflective ceiling and glass walls, weaved polygons, arches of circle, speedy rays of light, a dense arabesque that leaves the rest for the imagination.”
