Singapore-based studio Formwerkz Architects‘ work displays an inspiring experimentation with the fascinating Origami concept. Naturally named Origami House, this three story residence in Singapore was designed to showcase geometric folding lines that construct an interesting architecture. You might remember the architects from designing the Maximum Garden House. Completed last year, the house is defined by bronze metal planes folding and unfolding to shape a sculptural modern residence.
Built on the idea of a close relationship between parents and child, the house allows both child and parents to benefit from privacy while enjoying the social spaces together. In order to preserve this important relation, the junior master suite is visually connected to the parent’s master bedroom, but the other private spaces are there to offer maximum privacy without parent’s supervision. Connected by a suspended timber staircase, the floors also communicate visually with the help of voids, bridges or picture windows, incorporating even the reflecting dark surface constructing the interiors.
