Today’s dream home can be found in Bologna, Italy, occupying 2,690 square feet with its enchanting modern architecture. Known as Maison de la Lumière, this amazing residence was designed by Italian practice Damilano Studio Architects to define the owner’s requests – an architecturally different home based on advanced technology features.
Its sculptural qualities are accentuated by the designer’s creativity in creating the perfect territory for an artistic play of light: “La Maison de la Lumière, literally the house of light, is a clear example of Duilio Damilano’s architectural poetics, focused on the light and the various transformations that the light produces on lines, colors and shapes in the designing path. The architect really believes in the importance of designing the light as a characterizing element of a creative process.”
By creating a private, comfortable suite of rooms, architects have imagined barriers of green hedges that protect the inhabitant’s privacy in spite of large glazed windows seamlessly connecting the interiors with the surrounding landscape. Each of the rooms have direct contact to another – the glazed cube that is the living room opens to an inviting swimming pool, the kitchen is connected to the dining space and the bathroom to the bedroom. Extensive use of glass creates a spectacular light flood, which transforms a collection of spaces into a dynamic work of art.
