Located in Tasmania, Australia, between scattered shacks, dunes and fresh water lagoons and having no fence to delimit the property, the Lagoon Beach House gives a unique sense of freedom. Occupying a lot on the east edge of the Tamar River, this dream home was designed by Australian studio Birrelli Architecture. Rising two modern stories in the air, this 2,745 square foot contemporary residence encompasses three double bedrooms and a bunk/family room on the ground floor – here is where guests rest when visiting.
The main living spaces, master bedroom and study space were placed on the upper floor to take advantage of the beautiful views. A private courtyard part of the architecture welcomes family and guests with a BBQ – all that’s missing is the joyful connection between the members of the family and their friends. The exterior is a two-piece volumetric design that blends a modernly white first level with a wood-cladded upper volume. Which is the most interesting detail that you would use as inspiration for your own house?
