What used to be a deteriorated single-storey home in Gloucestershire, UK, is now a spectacular contemporary residence Imagined by Paul Archer Design. Dressed in a skin of polished aluminum panels that help the house blend in and create a mirroring effect of the surroundings , the volumetric architectural piece leaves a deep impression on anyone who sees it.
These panels can easily slide open to reveal the full impact of surrounding views. Also, owners can control the amount of light and sun heat reaching the interiors at different times during the day and the year. Spreading over 200 square meters within 2,675 square meters of perfectly manicured private landscape, the Green Orchard residence overlooks the Severn Estuary from its blessed location. Creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor, between private and public, architects extended the space that can be used for living, entertaining or relaxation.
With a zero carbon footprint, the stunning residence features energy consumption reduction technologies like the wood-burning Stuv stove as the hear source, thermal solar panels that heat the water and photovoltaic panels for electricity. Eco-friendly and modern in appearance, this residence seems to be the definition of a “sustainable dream home”.
