Casa del Acantilado or House on the Cliff exemplary adorns a rocky cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Seen in the coastal Spanish town of Calp, this dramatic contemporary residence feels like a sloping platform for framed panoramic views of the surroundings. Studio Fran Silvestre Arquitectos designed a three-dimensional structure of reinforced concrete slabs and screens adapted to the existing topography, minimizing the interference in the natural landscape and allowing the residence to showcase its rooms on a single floor.
The minimalist style displayed by this extraordinary residence seems to accentuate the beauty of the surroundings – a pure white volumetric architecture finished in smooth white lime stucco. The surrounding beauty is burned into your retina even when stepping inside, in a pristine collection of spaces. At night, the house transforms into a beacon of light, concentrating on a still moment in time, prepared to be enjoyed over and over again.
