Today’s dream home is located in Argentina, in one of the world’s nine Great Capitals of Wine – Mendoza. Named Casa Codina, the single family residence adorns a flat 1,500 square meters residential property. Displaying a micro perforated aluminum material on both the exterior facade and the wall that separates the central courtyard in two, the contemporary residence sets a new standard for contemporary Latin America architecture. The perforated material helps ventilate the beautifully designed interiors, maintaining a cool, natural atmosphere, while the glass walls invite natural sunlight inside.
Carefully designed, all the spaces face a different direction: the living and entertaining rooms face North for sun exposure and gain, the smaller private quarters face East and the service areas are oriented towards West. The centrally situated courtyard helps with natural ventilation and filters the sun that caresses the contemporary interiors. Architects from A4estudio constructed not only a residence that responds to its environments, but also a contemporary symphony of spaces made of modern materials in contrast with the natural surroundings.
