Houses become dream homes once your particular personality and style construct a sensory experience for anyone who enters through the doors. Until then, even the most spectacular residence lacks that something that makes it whole. Today’s dream home is like a blank canvas for its inhabitants – it will be soon filled with memories and personal objects that fabricate a unique atmosphere. Composed of details that unite to shape a fascinating interior and exterior design, the Amir Villa in Karaj, Iran, presents the way Tehran-based architectural studio Nextoffice imagined their client’s wishes, but using common sense to build a better version of the initial concept.
Artificial water paths surround the smooth reinforced straw and clay construction, giving it a natural look while maintaining a high level of contemporaneity outside and throughout the carefully planned floor plan. Acting as a summer home for both young and old family members, the Amir Villa opens towards views of the garden. Glass walls and floors compose a unique transparency connecting the natural state of the outdoors with the relaxing modernity of the indoors. In order to design the water pathways surrounding the summer retreat, the house was lifted up and adorned with light bowls underneath the clear glass. Dried tree trunks found in the garden were used to shape a series of framed natural decorations inviting to introspection.
