Blending wood and felt into a highly contemporary design, Brazilian artist Erico Gondim created the wondeful Ivy Chair. Using biomimicry principles to shape a modern piece of furniture, the designer looked at natural processes and traditional weaving to interconnect these intricate inspiration sources and shape a unique chair. Traditional palm weaving became the chosen method used to create a three-dimensional effect.
Water resistant felt bands were woven into a sculptural, elegant pattern placed on an American oak wood platform that can be gently rocked. Resting on it is said to be like relaxing in a hammock, but the curved base also employs the gentle movements of a rocking chair. Storage under the chair ensures your book is close by anytime you need a break from reality, while the adjustable head rest provides even more comfort.
Do you like the chair’s curvaceous body?
