The first thing you need to know about this stool is the inspiration behind the concept and the name. Ziggurats were terraced step pyramids built in the Mesopotamian region and served as inspiration for Stéphanie Marin’s Ziggurat chair. The ziggurat shape – an equilateral triangle destined to become the primary element of this design – was used to express the need for simple and effective pieces of furniture.
Beautifully organic and natural in shape, the stool designed by eco-designer Stéphanie Marin combines apparently sharp edges with the roundness of the lower part of the legs. Choosing to color the top part of the stool and leaving the legs natural, the designer stepped in with a bold move, creating a modern furniture item with a youthful spirit. Just as each ziggurat was accompanied by more of its kind, the Ziggurat Stool looks better when it is among siblings – more stools can create different patterned seating units. Aren’t they playful in a contemporary almost do-it-yourself way?
