Sorry, as we reported yesterday, there’s no iPhone 5. The latest, which we just confirmed, is that the iPhone 4S will be the same design as the iPhone 4. The price will be $199 for the entry level iPhone 4S — and will be released at Apple Stores on October 14th (update: it’s the iPhone 4 that’s $99, scroll to the bottom for a wrap up…). According to our sources, the company will soon show off an iPhone 4S — a device that keeps the same exterior as the iPhone 4 but has updated specs including a faster A5 processor, better 8MP camera and Assistant Voice Recognition. Update 1: Apple releases Cards App “We’ll print it on high quality 100% cotton paper.”
Update 2: The new iOS 5 to be launched for everyone, all devices, on October 12th.
Update 3: Apple releases Find My Friends for the iPhone 4S…. You can invite friends to share their location for a limited time… “Now, when I’m in Disneyland, I can see where my family is,” said Eddie Cue.
Update 4: Phil Schiller: “I’d like to give you updates to two of those lines today. First, iPod nano.” Will be even easier to navigate…
Update 5: iPod touch: now with iOS 5 and iCloud. Now it’s $199!
Update 6: As we stated, the new iPhone 4S includes the A5 chip and is “Dual-core CPU, 2x as fast at CPU tasks. Also dual-core graphics. Up to 7x faster in the previous iPhone.” Increased to 8 hours talk time… Better quality — and can download data twice as fast… “Now, new camera” for the Apple iPhone 4S, with an 8 megapixel sensor, with five element lens…
Update 7: New video camera — “We take stunning HD video, and for the first time, 1080p video,” with real-time video image stabilization…
Update 8: Hello Siri. Apple brings Siri voice control to the iPhone 4S. Perform instant Wikipedia and Wolfram Alpha searches by voice — “Just ask your personal assistant, Siri.” However, Siri is only available for iPhone 4S.
Update 9: As we originally reported, the iPhone 4S will be available for purchase on October 14th. However, the cost will be $199 for the entry level iPhone 4S (it’s the iPhone 4 that costs $99 — close!). As we originally reported, no iPhone 5….
Wrap up! As we stated yesterday, here’s our scorecard:
No iPhone 5 — correct
No teardrop design — correct
Named iPhone 4S — correct
New A5, camera, Siri — correct
October 14 release — correct
Our contact said to expect a $99 price tag. Incorrectly, that’s the new price of the iPhone 4 — our mistake in interrupting “the feedback” from our source. Close.
