A new week begins with the announcement of a new collaboration between Alexander Wang and H&M. The new partnership was revealed during a party at the Coachella Music Festival in Palm Springs. Alexander Wang is the first American fashion designer and also the youngest to team up with the European high-fashion retailer. This association also marks the 10th anniversary of H&M’s designer collaborations. Featuring apparel and accessories for both men and women, the Alexander Wang x H&M Collection will hit the shelves of the brand’s 250 stores worldwide as well as will be available online from November 6, 2014. Renowned for designs that are high on ease as well as style, the Creative Director of Balenciaga is expected to deliver freshness to the lifestyle product offering that goes beyond fashion.
Wearing his black wavy hair long, the lean clear-skinned young designer stated, “I am honored to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle.” Just hours before the Coachella party, Wang teased about the collaboration on his Instagram account.
H&M’s creative advisor, Margareta van den Bosch also went on record to state, “Alexander Wang is one of the most important voices in fashion today. He understands exactly what people want to wear and does it with an energy and passion that’s infectious. It feels incredible to be collaborating with him this year.” She also added that, “He’s very contemporary. It’s very young, but it’s also things that can be worn by any age because of his influences in tailoring and sport. He’s very much today.”
Each attendee of the launch party also received a pair of Alexander Wang x H&M branded holographic 3D glasses.
