Though their collaboration was announced in April, Alexander Wang and H&M’s sporty collection is now out in open. The much-awaited collection is designed to be worn on the street, in the gym, at the club. The all-black line up includes scuba dresses, gray pullover sweatshirts, mesh-paneled leggings, sports bra, leather joggers, parkas, swim goggles, boxing gloves and more that will be listed under Men’s, Women’s and Objects on AlexanderWang.com.
WWD brings our attention to the line of funky and sporty footwear from the collection. Comprising of lace-up stilettos, perforated heels, scuba boots and boxing-style men’s shoes, the American designer has stated that he has also resurrected the Freya boot from 2010 for this line.
Encapsulating the experience of designing such extraordinary shoes, Mr. Wang stated, “I started thinking about the components we wanted to have, and about the [fashion show] as well, because I love having options. I looked at a lot of different heel heights and insoles as well as lug boots. [With the Freya], there was this total use of neoprene and aqua zips. When we got into it, we decided to refresh it with an aqua sock with a welded zipper — it just felt obvious to do. I thought, ‘Well, that’s perfect.'”
Teaming up with Alexander Wang has been the first of its kind for the Swedish brand with an American designer. The outcome which is already unveiled in a look book will hit the shelves on 6th November.
Also to mark the partnership and lure clients to shop, Alexander Wang and H&M has put up a vending machine at the H&M flagship store at 589 Fifth Avenue & 48th Street! Shoppers who purchase goods worth $50 or more will receive a special token that can be used to collect custom-designed Alexander Wang x H&M water bottles from the dispenser.
