The NY Times reviews Fashion Week in Milan.

The Italian spring collections put everything out there for people to see — the economic stresses on creativity, the loss of power as designers let others tell them what to make. Oh, yes: there were some nice clothes, too. Since the 1950s, fashion know-how has been the business of Italy and France, with the biggest, richest names emerging from Milan in the ’70s to captivate people with their artistry and innovation. In the ’90s, two women, Miuccia Prada and Jil Sander, led other designers into new conceptual areas, Ms. Prada with her widely copied nylon bags and notion of “ugly chic.” – From NY Times
