Coco Chanel is synonymous to bold and lasting fashion. The designer doyenne, who founded the eponymous fashion house Chanel, is most famous for her timeless designs, trademark suits and little black dresses. The French luxury brand is revving up their glorification for the founder, Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, by launching a new perfume, handbag and even a watch and jewelry line for 2017. Christened, Gabrielle Chanel eau de parfum, this newest ‘abstract floral’ fragrance will debut in June. Created by Chanel’s fragrance creator Olivier Polge, it is the company’s first new pillar in 15 years.

Though the break up of the composition is not revealed, it is known that the new fragrance pillar is concocted to ‘explore the whole moment of before Coco — who she really was at the core.’

Emphasizing the DNA, the roots of the brand, the house is also gearing up to unveil the Gabrielle bag. Scheduled to hit the shelves by March, the latest handbag is meant to become a pillar style for Chanel, and is considered the first major new model since the Boy, introduced in 2011. WWD states that it was unveiled on the runway in October amid a “data center” set at the Grand Palais, the Gabrielle is one of those deceptively simple yet ingenious designs at which Karl Lagerfeld excels. Inspired by the virtual reality goggles, the Gabrielle bag will be offered in a variety of colors and materials, from classic black lambskin to exotic leathers. It is reported to range from $3,000 up to $33,000 for a large alligator version. Also, the house’s watch and jewelry division, helmed by Frédéric Grangié, is working on a Gabrielle-themed collections for 2017. To kick-start the year of Gabrielle, Chanel also unveils the three-minute film, “Gabrielle, a Rebel at Heart” — a fast-paced ode to the founder’s audacity and her convictions about female empowerment, daring and freedom.
