You just might run into a famous artist during your stay at Los Cabos’ El Ganzo Hotel. But even if you don’t meet in person, you’ll immediately see how one (or several!) has enhanced your stay.
Re-opened late last year after the devastation of Hurricane Odille, El Ganzo is a (pet friendly!) 69-room beachfront boutique hotel made up of “master suites, large suites, and very large suites” that overlooks the Sea of Cortez at the Puerto Los Cabos Marina adjacent to the historic town of San Jose del Cabo.
The hotel’s name, El Ganzo, technically means goose… and what’s good for this goose is also good for those who gander here to spend a stay, a day, or even just an afternoon in the lobby lounge.
Because this place is an ever-evolving work of art.
El Ganzo isn’t just an oceanside oasis; it is quickly becoming known for its Artist-in-Residence program, developed by on-site aficionado Mark Rudin.
In exchange for a stay at the idyllic location, artists from all over the world have been invited to create signature masterpieces around the hotel, using El Ganzo as their canvas.
Artists are given absolute freedom to create works of art inspired by the property and its unique, creative atmosphere. So you may see visual art installations scattered throughout the hotel — or a piece purposefully incorporated into your very room.
Visiting musicians take advantage of “The Underground,” a full recording studio in El Ganzo’s basement and even — like Slash did recently — offer live rooftop performances.
So you just might run into a famous artist during your stay at Los Cabos’ Hotel El Ganzo. Or you might just take your tamarind welcome drink — El Ganzo’s virgin version of literary artist Ernest Hemingway’s favorite Papa Doble — and imagine yourself as one.
El Ganzo’s nightly room rates range from $320 – $4,500.
