An amateur treasure hunter with a metal detector discovered over 52,000 Roman coins worth $1 million.
The coins were buried in a jar in a farmer’s field. it is one of the biggest discoveries of its kind in England.
The hoard includes 766 coins bearing an image of the Roman general Marcus Aurelius Carausius, dating the find from between AD 286 to AD 293.
In all there are over 52,000 coins. Why the coins were buried is unknown.
