Designed by England-based studio Splinter Works, the Tipsy Stool is a sculptural furniture piece that embodies modern design and manufacturing techniques in an illusion-based project. According to the designers, “the Tipsy stool is a master of deception, appearing to balance on a cylindrical foot. The illusion is enhanced as the seat leans far past its center of gravity. Upon sitting, the stool is completely sturdy achieved by a trick using a hidden structure.”
You might remember Splinter Works by one of their fabulous designs, the contemporary Vessel bathtub. Their work transcends modern design and expresses a combination of design knowledge, innovation and customized design. All their pieces can be tailored to size, scale, color, detailing and even materials, so that each final product is perfect for each client. Measuring 450 mm in heigh, 400 mm in lenght and 350 mm in width, the functional Tipsy Stool sculpture features an applied pewter finish that makes it highly fashionable.
