Forbes profiles jewelry designer Manju Jasty, who brings an Eastern artistry to the contemporary woman of the world.

Launching a luxury jewelry design business in 2006 was a huge leap of faith for Manju Jasty, who had worked for nearly a decade in banking. It wasn’t just that she decided to forgo a steady paycheck from Barclays, she was also taking up a field that, in her native India, was confined almost exclusively to family businesses–Jasty’s parents are doctors. But jewelry designing was in her destiny, says the New York transplant. Her passion and knowledge of jewelry went above and beyond the average woman’s Cartier fantasy. For years she had re-designed her family heirlooms, but she really wanted to make her own statement. Her trademark pieces are a marriage of the East and West, inspired by her Indian heritage but made for the contemporary woman of the world. She does her design in Manhattan and the crafting takes place in India. – From Forbes
