Daily Dream Home – Casa Luz

This pleasure of constantly enjoying the surrounding views from inside a modern, comfortable home led to the design of many residences that benefit from extensive use of glass throughout. The three-story Casa Luz in Guatemala city is one of these inspiring residential structures using the material’s transparency to create a strong relationship with city panoramas. Guatemala city-based design studio Paz Arquitectura designed this luxurious residence to display a timber framework that accentuates the beauty of exposed concrete.

The house’s structural elements compose a volumetric architecture pierced by large glass expanses offering glimpses into the owner’s lifestyle – modern indoor furniture and the use of wood and glass create a warm but sophisticated atmosphere. Architects describe the color choice and use of materials: “White was used for horizontal and vertical planes in order to cause the spread of natural light. Materials such as tempered glass, wood and exposed concrete used in its size, and natural shades create an architecture that is restrained and straightforward.” Is there anything missing from this picture-perfect home?
