Australian actress Cate Blanchett is gearing to move to the US along with her family and has put up her Sydney home for sale. The 46 year old actress along with her theater director husband Andrew Upton has listed the waterfront home in Hunters Hill for $14.7 million. The palatial estate, regarded as one of Sydney’s finest heritage homes, overlooking the Lane Cove River was built in 1877. Nestled in Australia’s oldest garden suburb, Bulwarra is a sandstone-faced mansion set on a private 3,642 square meter land. After buying the property in 2005, the couple put it through a three-year long renovation which has resulted in double floor space and separate, self-contained quarters under the swimming pool. The Elizabeth actress and her spouse had enlisted Nadine Alwill of Alwill Design and Dr Stephen Lesiuk of Lesiuk Architects to design an eco-friendly family retreat. Crafted to integrate with the outdoors, the home’s clean lines and open layout set a relaxed ambiance with all rooms oriented to the north and the Will Dangar designed gardens. While the house features five bedrooms on the upper level, the master bedroom that occupies a private wing features a skylit dressing room and Boffi-appointed en-suite with a freestanding bath. It also comes with solid American Oak floors, an enormous cellar, generous attic storage, and secure parking for four cars. The estate is dotted with other amenities like a pool pavilion, championship tennis court, guesthouse, trampoline platform as well as a shared boatshed.Zackary Wright, Senior Vice President of Christie’s International Real Estate describes the estate by stating, “With its exceptional provenance, luxurious eco-friendly amenities, and architectural significance, Bulwarra is impeccably executed with modern touches that make it a superb family residence.” Christie’s International Real Estate
