BMW to Build New China Plant on Luxury-Car Demand
12 November 2009
BMW announced Thursday it and Brilliance Automotive will build another plant at Shenyang at a cost of EUR560 million. The Munich-based car maker and its partner already operate one plant there with annual production capacity of 41,000 vehicles. “Our plant has reached its capacity limit, so we are now taking the next step,” said BMW Chief Financial Officer Friedrich Eichiner in a statement. “The decision to build a second plant demonstrates that we are investing in our future in China and that we intend to participate in the strong growth in the Chinese market.” – from WSJ
