Louis Vuitton Window Displays Designed By Frank Gehry

To mark the opening of The Fondation Louis Vuitton, the French luxury house has commissioned architect Frank Gehry to dress up its windows for Fall/Winter 2014-2015. A Pritzker Prize–winning architect, Gehry is to the world of structural design what Louis Vuitton is to the world of luxury and fashion. The Los Angeles based architect has lately been in news for designing the Louis Vuitton Foundation in the heart of Bois de Boulogne, Paris.

Louis_vuitton_Frank_gehry_3Gehry designed LV window displays are set for a global debut in early September. A series of curved metal structures inspired by the sailing and fishing boats as well the abstract works of the painter, Frank Stella will grace the windows of Louis Vuitton stores. Paying homage to the Canadian-American architect’s famous structures, these sail-themed windows will give an illusion of movement, as if they were floating in the wide open sea.

As mentioned earlier, one of the most distinctive and easily recognizable designers has also designed a bag and a suitcase as a part of Louis Vuitton’s The Icons and The Iconoclasts project. These fashionable creations by Frank Gehry are scheduled to go on sale in October.

The  Louis Vuitton Foundation for Creation will open its gates to the public on October 27. It will also showcase an exhibition that will be dedicated to the architecture of the building.

Frank Gehry’s association with Louis Vuitton is consistent as we have recently learned that sculptures designed by the architect will adorn the three windows of Saks Fifth Avenue on 50th Street.
