Zaha Hadid has been putting her creative skills to transform almost everything under the sun. Lately the Iraqi-born, London-based architect has teamed up with Aziz & Walid Mouzannar jewelry house to create a stunning bracelet. Right in time for the festive season of gifting, the Petal Cuff has blossomed from 18ct white gold and encrusted with 1,048 white diamonds.
The Petal Cuff will be unveiled on Nov 13th at The Zaha Hadid Design Gallery in London and only 12 limited edition cuffs will be exclusively available from the Zaha Hadid gallery as well as from the Aziz & Walid Mouzannar jewellery boutique in Beirut. Making a unique Christmas gift for the lady who has almost everything, such a dramatically sculpted cuff will adorn the wrist for about $88,000.
Zaha Hadid has worked closely with Alia and Dori Mouzannar to give shape to the exclusive piece of jewelry. The queen of contemporary architecture sums up their rewarding teamwork by announcing, “Our collaboration with the House of Aziz & Walid Mouzannar takes full advantage of Alia’s expertise and Dori’s knowledge to explore the beauty of natural forms and the unique properties of its materials. Alia’s work celebrates materiality and composition in the rich history and traditions of Lebanon’s jewelers. Each immaculately detailed piece conveys formal complexity and precision with the highest standards of craftsmanship.”
Alia reciprocates the admiration by stating that some time back she asked Hadid if she might like to collaborate on a piece of jewellery. She added, “I thought it might be fun for her and within 20 minutes she emailed back. It was a lesson in the life of working with Zaha Hadid, because she is so efficient and respectful.”
