If you live in New York — this sounds like a must-have bookmark: http://zagat.dealon.com/new-york/subscribe. Official news below from Zagat:
Today marked the launch of ZAGAT Exclusives, a unique group-buying program by Zagat Survey and DealOn. Tailored to meet the needs of both diners and restaurateurs, ZAGAT Exclusives will provide regularly scheduled discounts at trusted Zagat-Rated restaurants in major metropolitan areas, beginning with New York City.
“Zagat is harnessing the increasingly popular group buying model to provide the best possible deals for our customers and restaurateurs,” said Tim Zagat, CEO, Zagat Survey. “Diners who are passionate about where they eat will have confidence in knowing that these specials will be offered only in Zagat-Rated restaurants; and restaurants will be able to attract savvy foodies who, if satisfied, are likely to become repeat customers.”
ZAGAT Exclusives will be offered in limited quantities for a fixed sale period. No minimum group purchase will be required. Each offer will begin with a fixed price; the price will decrease as more people buy the deal. The lowest price reached at the end of the sale period is the amount all purchasers will pay.
ZAGAT Exclusives is now live in New York City, and will quickly roll out to other major cities, including Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and San Francisco. The first ZAGAT Exclusive deal will be offered at midtown’s historic ’21’ Club, a New York landmark that evolved from a 1929 speakeasy into a one of the city’s most iconic restaurants.
“We are excited for the Zagat brand to lead our first foray into group buying,” said Bryan McGuire, General Manager of ’21’ Club. “This partnership will offer guests the opportunity to experience the incomparable cuisine, service and atmosphere of ’21’ at exceptional values. We look forward to welcoming Zagat Exclusive diners, and we’re confident that they will return for more meals with us in the future.”
Other restaurants lined up for the NYC launch of Zagat Exclusives include buzzworthy NoHo tapas house, Mercat. According to General Manager Carl Wiseheart, “Zagat is a great brand with a dedicated following of discerning diners. Zagat Exclusives gives us an opportunity to bring them to Mercat for an excellent experience they will want to repeat, and share with friends.”
ZAGAT Exclusives deals can be found at ZAGAT.com as well as DealOn.com. New York City deals will also be announced on Twitter via @ZagatBuzzNYC. Diners and Zagat-Rated restaurants interested in participating in the program should sign up at www.zagat.com/exclusives. Those who sign up will receive periodic emails announcing new deals with participating restaurant information, including its ratings and review on Zagat’s 30-point scale.
