From golden donuts to diamond encrusted ice creams, we’ve seen the works of all things shiny on our plates! There is another addition to this glitter gang- the most expensive sushi in the world complete with gold and pearls, making it a perfect fit in the list of edible luxuries and the Guinness World Records!
Manila-based chef Angelito Araneta Jr. who is known all over the world as “Karat Chef”, wraps his sushi in gold leaves and African pearls. He makes it a point to incorporate gold into every one of his opulent creations, especially using traditional nori for gold leaf in his “Sushi Del Oriente”.
For $1,900, the five-piece nigiri roll is made with luxe ingredients including Norwegian pink salmon and foie gras, with each bite topped with 20 carats of African diamonds and three Palawan pearls.
Angelito believes that there is no such thing as “price” for a sushi that good and claims that even though it is one of the most expensive dishes, his skill of creating a royal blend of metallurgy and culinary always works in getting that “Yes!” when there is a proposal that he provides his grand sushi for.
This is as close as it gets to hiring King Midas as your chef!
