Experiencing a mix of Edwardian and contemporary architecture while traveling can be very soothing and rewarding at the same time. The Town Hall Hotel in London displays this fascinating connection between architecture from back in the days and modern design we came to recognize as part of our daily lives. The mixed design we can enjoy today was created by Rare Architects, but the original building was constructed in 1910 and extended in 1937.
Spreading over a total surface of 8,900 square meters, the Town Hall Hotel was redesigned by Michel da Costa Gonçalves and Nathalie Rozencwajg of Rare Architects. The brief stated that the hotel display a contemporary design nestled in the shell of the original building and maintaining the initial charm of the Bethnal Green Town Hall in the East End of London. Resulting in a laser cut powder coated aluminum skin with no windows or door visible wrapping the building, the Town Hall Hotel features a smart combination of restored details and contemporary additions on the inside. Visit the unique hotel to enjoy all the interesting design lines combining two architectural decades in a fantastic building.
