As “The Waterpark Capital of the World” the Dells has over 200 water slides,indoor/outdoor waterparks, outdoor adventures, entertainment and and nature to fit every type of personality year-round in less than 20 square miles, and is a must visit for families and mulit-generational travel. The Dells of the Wisconsin River are a stunning testament from Mother Nature, with deep canyon gorges, ice age rock formations and glacial formed sandstone cliffs paint the backdrop.
The Original Wisconsin Ducks Tour is a great way to explore The Dells on both land and water in an amphibious vehicle from the World War II era, and The Dells is known for having the largest fleet of World War II DUCKs. The very first tour took place in the summer of 1946, and has been exploring the woodland scenery, trails, sandstone rock formations ever since. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of local wildlife in the area. If a duck boat isn’t what you had in mind, don’t worry, you can also opt for a sunset cruise, kayaking, steamboat tours or row boat excursions.
Enjoy Nature at Devil’s Lake State Park
The 10,000-acre pet-friendly state park is one of the most popular and family-friendly state parks, and with good reason. Bluffs stand 500 feet over the sapphire blue lake, and families come from all over to enjoy hiking, biking, kayaking, boating, paddleboarding, paddle boating, fishing, camping, rock climbing and more. Don’t miss the bespoke events and programming with option like the Sunset Hike, Yoga in the Park, Summer Concert Series, Learn to Fish workshop or Guided Kayak Tours. A full store and concessions are available on site for any snacks, souvenirs or forgotten items.
Explore Culinary Delights
Wisconsin is known for several iconic foods. Known as the “cheese state”, Wisconsin produces several varieties of cheese, including cheddar, colby, swiss and mozzarella. Bratwurst is a popular Wisconsin dish, as is a butter burger- a burger patty topped with a generous helping of butter.
Don’t miss out on experiencing a Wisconsin supper club, each one with a unique vibe, bringing a nostalgic and historic take on dining. Started at taverns and dancehalls where beer, fried chicken and perch were served to guests, and the classic menu was formed soon after with a set weekly schedule of Friday fish fry, Saturday prime rib, Sunday roasted chicken and ribs. No supper club experience is complete without a relish trays, cheese and crackers at the bar or the undisputed cocktail of Wisconsin: a hand-muddled brandy old fashioned.
