Luxury fashion brands continued to strut their stuff this week, with London Fashion Week ending Monday and Milan Fashion Week picking up right after. In the rainy city, brands such as Burberry, L’Wren Scott, Tom Ford, Pringle of Scotland and Anya Hindmarch and Alexander McQueen dazzled in front of audiences, while Fendi, Gucci , Prada and other fashion labels heated up the runway in Milan, which is running from Wednesday to the 26.
With each runway show, respective designers are bolstering their digital prowess, focusing on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter as well as newer channels such as Vine and Instagram. Social media is allowing aspirational consumers access behind the scenes and on the runway by providing back-stage pictures, live streams and show reviews. As Fashion Week continues on to Paris next week, it is expected that this kind of engagement will continue.
Two British automakers, perhaps inspired by the fashion activity in its capital city, teased new vehicles that are set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a few weeks.
According to Bentley, its new Flying Spur will have a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W-12 engine with 616 horsepower and 580 pound feet of torque. It will do 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds and will have a top speed of 200 mph. Past Flying Spur models were previously based on the Continental GT coupe, but the 2014 model is closer to the Continental GT Speed.
Meanwhile, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is not giving as much away, but is giving its customers a sneak-peek at its new Waith Coupe that will debut in Geneva. Earlier this week, Rolls-Royce teased exterior shots of its profile and rear and one of its doors.
