A wealthy Arab family is having their cake and eating it too! Debbie Wingham was commissioned to bake and make the world’s most expensive cake. Valued at $75 million, it is a diamond studded cake that was put up to mark her client’s birthday as well as engagement in United Arab Emirates.Studded with over 4,000 real diamonds, the six foot long cake was absolutely edible. Sculpted to resemble a catwalk, it featured gowns and outfits that resemble Ms Wingham’s couture clothing. The cake was also dotted with edible pieces of small models walking on the ramp and spectators sitting in the front row.The over-the-top, high-on-fashion cake also boasted of edible accessories that include designer handbags, shoes, designer shades, smartphones and tablets. Hand sculpted by Ms Wingham, the 450 kg cake took over 1,100 hours to make. It had over 120 kg of fondant icing and 60 kg of modelling chocolateThe dazzling quotient was raised by a 5.2 carat pink diamond, a 6.4 carat yellow diamond and a total of 15 individual five carat white diamonds along with another 4000 stones that included amethyst and emeralds on the icing. The runway was decked with 473 white diamonds and 75 black diamonds. Apart from the artistry and the handwork of baking such a fabulous cake, its the use of precious stones and diamonds that added up to the cost of the cake to crown it as the most expensive.
Debbie Wingham started her career as a fashion designer who had designed the world’s most expensive dress for $5.7 million!
