World’s renowned fashion designers also get lured by the world of fantasy and fairy tales. We have seen Disney princess get dressed in designer ensembles. The trend has now moved on to the Land of Oz. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is considered the first American fairy tale and based on it, in 1939 The Wizard of Oz musical fantasy film came to life. To mark the 75th anniversary of this classic movie, Warner Bros. Consumer Products has collaborated with the Tonner Doll Co. to give a designer touch to the lead female characters. Some of the top fashion and costume designers have been commissioned to give a haute couture makeover to Dorothy, Glinda the Good Witch of the South and the Wicked Witch of the West. Marc Jacobs, Herve Leger, Donna Karan and others have created 20 glamorous 22-inch dolls based on the film’s leading ladies.
The Wicked Witch of the West takes the floor in Marc Jacobs designed outfit. The miniature doll edition is dressed in a floor length gown with sheer and lace trimmings. The detailing trails to the rear with a slit up the spine. The look is completed with a bob hairstyle and smoky eyes.
