One of the best restaurants in the world and three-star Michelin, El Celler de Can Roca, has developed an exclusive menu to pair with The Macallan. The Gerona, Spain based-restaurant has created a new, one-off sensorial experience for a terrific cause.
The Roca Brothers have used all their senses to interpret the essence of The Macallan, resulting in The Ultimate Dinner – which includes 14 courses paired with 14 whiskies, many of them never released. The Macallan will be dusting off some of its rarest bottles, from unreleased single-cask malts through to M, the world’s most expensive whisky, The Macallan in Lalique 62-year-old and the oldest single malt ever served by the distillery.
“It is both a pleasure and an exciting challenge to work with The Macallan team. We combine knowledge, effort and hard work to improve in areas that individually we would have never imagined we could achieve, and all that with a strong commitment to innovation,” said Josep Roca, sommelier of El Celler de Can Roca.
Each of the menu’s 14 courses, will be paired with a different drink. The cost of this once-in-a-lifetime experience? A cool € 8,500 per person.
The combination of the menu and the collection of fine whiskies served are being exclusively paired for The Ultimate Dinner with The Macallan and Roca, and will not be served again anywhere in the world. The dinner will take place in the highly praised restaurant, which is located in Girona, Spain (an hour from Barcelona) on 22nd March 2015 and is limited to a very few.
Net proceeds, plus an additional pledge from The Macallan, will be donated to Charity:Water, whose mission is to bring clean and safe drinking water to impoverished countries.
During the evening, an exclusive single malt whisky will be auctioned for the same charity, offering the chance to be the owner of a one-off The Macallan bottling. Every guest will receive a gift from The Macallan – a limited edition miniature whisky with a certificate of authenticity. Diners will also meet the famed Roca brothers, Joan, Josep and Jordi.
