Pursuitist regularly keeps track of awe-worthy auction finds from names like Sotheby’s and Christie’s. But every time we see a crazy piece of jewelry or a big diamond, we wonder — is this really the best/greatest out there? A new graph from dadaviz took the guesswork away for us.
The “perfect” 100-carat white diamond that sold for $22 million at Sotheby’s this week — a good stone, but not the most expensive, or the most rare. That honor goes to the “Pink Star,” a 118-carat oval that sold for $82 million back in 2013.
We’re not picky though. If anyone wants to buy us either, we’d take it.
