Among motorcycle buffs, the Brough Superior is something of a holy grail. The UK-made bike was manufactured between 1919 and 1940 and gained worldwide fame as the conveyance of choice for Lt. Colonel T.E. Lawrence, the British Army officer better known as Lawrence of Arabia. Lawrence owned seven Broughs over the course of his colourful career and deemed it the best mode of transport ever invented. Of the nearly 4,000 examples built during the company’s original tenure, 1,000 are still in action (and much coveted by collectors), a testament to their “Superior” construction and reputation as the Rolls-Royce of two-wheelers. – From James List
