These organic sculptures imagined by British sculptor Kate MccGwire expose us to things we see everyday in a very unusual way. Striking twists and a perfect balance in design and implementation makes these sculptures hint towards the artist’s powerful connection to nature. Unexpected shape formed from the sculptor’s pigeon and mallard feather collection, which are carefully collected, washed and sorted before becoming part of the installations.
Abstract yet filled with a deep sense of organic meaning, these beautiful works of art showcase hybrid designs that serve for acknowledging that we can re-create our surrounding world according to our imagination. Besides that, the artist’s works seem to still hide some creature underneath, one that exposes its eye-catching feather colors while resting in an unusual way. Flowing in the same direction, much as they would naturally do, feathers construct a pattern worthy to be displayed as a piece of art.
