The much awaited Karl Lagerfeld store in UK has finally opened its doors! Touted to be the brand’s largest store in the world till date and the first in London, the eponymous outlet is located at 145-147 Regent Street, London.
Vogue has had the privilege to step inside Karl’s kingdom in Britain and share the images. The creative and witty designer has not only designed a capsule collection to mark the store’s opening but he has also been actively involved in the store’s interior designing too. High on aesthetic as well as technology, the store is dressed in Karl’s signature colors, black and white, only. The octogenarian genius makes his present felt largely with an oversized mural of himself on the wall. The neat décor is so Karl-like with sparkling surfaces, lavish sofas, a carpeted staircase that is fitted with a gold railing for assistance and dozens of mirrors all over the place. Even the cushions thrown on the couches and sofas feature the designer’s face. It’s truly Karl’s world!
Not only believing in running parallel with time, Karl has always been a visionary, thinking ahead of times. He has been reigning as the most evolutionary icon of the fashion world. Realizing the importance of technology in everybody’s life, he has designed the store to be tech as well as social media friendly. Keen to interact with shoppers and get a hang of their opinions, Karl has fitted each changing room with iPads. Here, clients can upload images, selfies to be precise, directly onto Instagram in their new new Lagerfeld outfits. Before leaving the store with arms holding the stuffed shopping bags, shoppers can also sign a digital guest book where he will tweet his favorite messages.
Designed to bring the essence of Karl Lagerfeld to UK, a special capsule collection has been rolled out at the store to mark its opening. Inspired by London and iconic Union Jack (the national flag of the United Kingdom), the commemorative collection comprises of Karl collars, bags, purses, fingerless black gloves, baseball caps, wallets and also a special Karl phone case. Along with Karl dolls, the brand has also put up their ready-to-wear line too.
Those tired of shopping can take a break and browse through a collection of books made available. If the coffee table books seem out of the place then feel free to grab a copy a book boasting of his most famous and controversial quotes. Another thing that he is renowned for!
