Earlier this week, Snowshoe Mountain announced plans to set a ski record of sorts. The West Virginia resort will open for the 2014-15 winter ski and snowboard season on November 26th and remain open through Sunday, April 5th. This Thanksgiving-to-Easter calendar marks the longest announced season schedule in a decade, and comes with some other super ski news, too.
Recently ranked by SKI Magazine readers as a 2015 Top Ten Resort in the East for lodging & après-ski experience, Snowshoe Mountain also announced exciting additions and enhancements to lodging, amenities, and programs for this winter. All of this follows on the momentum of back-to-back big snow seasons… and thanks to early forecasts for a favorable combination of weather factors again this year.
Most pointedly, Snowshoe’s first and only luxury boutique hotel — the Corduroy Inn — is set to open in November. Enjoy a private hearth room, coffee cafe, fine onsite dining, and luxuriously appointed rooms (with wifi!) in its best ski-in/ski-out mountain location (atop the Powder Monkey chairlift and across the street from Snowshoe’s famous Western Territory), just in time for the holidays.
A powerful new snowmaking system all over the mountain now allows the resort to literally guarantee the best snow (or your next day is free!), and its own Terrain Based Learning™ program teaches all ages everything they need to eventually master Snowshoe’s 1,500 vertical feet and 250 acres of terrain with a full arsenal of features.
You want a spa? The Spa at Snowshoe just opened to pamper après-skiers (and even those who choose to skip the slopes), with skin and body treatments, a salon, a full fitness center, and well-appointed men’s and women’s locker rooms.
And make sure to check out Snowshoe’s weekly live music series, Beats on the Basin, with national names like The Infamous Stringdusters, Keller-Williams, Passafire, and Rusted Root taking turns Friday evenings starting December 26th through February 27th.
Remember that in addition to terrific outdoor winter recreation, Snowshoe also offers extensive lodging options, fully developed mountain biking trails, a popular golf course designed by Gary Player, wedding and convention areas, and a wide variety of summer outdoor activities. Snowshoe Mountain Resort is part of the family of Intrawest Resorts.
