In their own words, discover the world of Jack Robie Shirts:
Jack Robie offers luxury, ready-to-wear men’s shirts with a tailored fit at prices below those of comparable products. Our direct-to-consumer model allows us to use fabrics and materials of the highest quality and skilled, American manufacturing as we don’t have the costly overhead of traditional retail. Versatility is paramount, and we design our shirts to bring style and comfort to the boardroom, the bar or the beach.
The Jack Robie dress shirt is distinguished by a trim fit, a slightly shorter length and a shrink-resistant collar. Other details include edge-stitching at collar and cuffs, genuine mother of pearl buttons, a split yoke and single-needle construction throughout.
While our focus is on dress shirts, we also offer sport shirts with a trim, comfortable fit in mind. Jack Robie sport shirts evoke a more casual style, feature a slightly shorter length, and are pre-washed for softness.
We’re two classmates from Brown University who met on a trip to Brazil, discovered that we had common interests in music and fashion, and quickly became friends. After Brown, we both took jobs on Wall Street – a valuable learning experience with miserable hours that wasn’t particularly fun. Four years into our jobs, we realized we needed a creative outlet that the world of finance could never provide. So, we conceptualized a men’s apparel brand during a long conversation that stemmed from a mutual desire to do something innovative and entrepreneurial. This brand would initially be focused on elevating the quality and fit of a wardrobe staple – the dress shirt – while also keeping the price points reasonable. After establishing manufacturing relationships, experimenting with samples and conducting a successful sales event, we left our finance careers to focus on building our company.
The name Jack Robie pays homage to a fictitious, impeccably-dressed American man portrayed by one of our style idols, Cary Grant, in the 50’s film “To Catch a Thief.” Jack Robie embodies American cool and charisma with a sense of style that reflects his European travels – something we aspire to capture in every product we offer.
We’re not an Internet company, but Jack Robie shirts can only be purchased online. We believe in selling directly to our customers – not only do we offer a better shopping experience, but we eliminate unnecessary costs associated with traditional retail. We operate out of a modest loft on an uninspired block in Chinatown, and while we still work long hours, we couldn’t be happier – we love what we do.
