Samsung took the wraps off its ultra-sleek Series 7 Chronos laptops during the company’s press conference at IFA. The Series 7 echos the same crafted design aesthetic as the Series 9 but provides speedier and more powerful computing in a slightly thicker body — picture the love child of a MacBook Air and the HP Envy.
“With the Series 7, we have matched powerful new features with Samsung’s design and engineering excellence to produce a truly special product. Our goal is to create notebooks that constantly inspire and enrich customers’ lives,” said Kyuho Uhm, senior vice president of IT Solutions.
Clever “MAX screen” technology makes you feel like you are using a bigger laptop. “[T]he Series 7 CHRONOS enables users to experience up to an extra inch of immerse viewing without sacrificing mobility or portability, with the 15″ display, for example, being contained within the form factor traditionally associated with a 14″ model,” said Samsung.
Sony also featured a streamlined laptop during its IFA press briefing in the form of the Sony VAIO S Series. The 15.5″ laptop offers a Blu-ray drive, a 1,920 x 1,080 display and an approximate $1,000 price tag. The 14″ and 15″ Samsung Series 7 Chronos laptops will be available from October 2 priced from $999 to $1,299.
