French fashion house Balmain has named Rihanna as the new face of the brand. The 25-year-old performer will front the Spring/Summer 2014 collection advertising campaign, which is expected to appear in January magazines. The campaign was shot in New York by famed fashion photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, with styling by Mel Ottenberg, who is also Rihanna’s personal stylist.
Rihanna’s new role as the Balmain brand ambassador comes as no surprise as the singer is a long-time Balmain fan and has been frequently seen wearing the label’s distinctive styles.
“In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world. When the woman that inspires you wears your creations, your vision feels complete,” the label’s creative director, Olivier Rousteing, told WWD.
