Columbia’s heated boots offer some hope for the coming Winter months.
As the winter encroaches, it is important to remember that frostbite is most likely to hit the extremities. Those wiggling little toes in your boots, smashed down through the crust of the ice into the sub-zero snow below, can freeze and die. That means no more polished toe nails. No more amazing your friends with using your feet to eat spaghetti. No more toe sucking. There have long been solutions to the problem, of course. Skiers, tobogganists and progressive Eskimos all favor heat-activated thermal packs which, when cracked open and placed into the boot, keep the feet toasty. Personally, I’m addicted to them: of all experiences of the flesh, those chemical heat packs for boots rank just a notch lower than bacon absorption and bubble bath procreation. – From Geek.com
