Sports-inspired apparel is all the rage.
You don’t have to be a hard-bodied athlete to feel like an Olympian over the coming season. Heck, you don’t even have to hit the gym. This spring, designers are tapping into the spirit of sportsmanship to create garb better suited for life outside the locker room. Among the key players are Alexander Wang, whose caramel leather shorts and corset-fused sweatshirts channel all-American football. Also diving into the trend is Prada, with digital beach prints and nylon jackets evoking scuba couture. The boys at Proenza Schouler, meanwhile, tapped California surfer girls for inspiration, although ones more likely to suit up for the club than catch a wave. – From Globe and Mail
